Eddie Hearn has admitted he was surprised at the behaviour of WBC and WBA middleweight champion Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez during Friday’s official weigh-in ahead of his fight with IBF middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs. Both boxers went face-to-face after recording their weights, and it wasn’t long before they were aggressively butting heads.Canelo reacted by pushing Jacobs across the stage, which then led to both of the fighters’ teams having to get involved to break it up as they went at it with full force as fight night approaches.Speaking to Sky Sports, Matchroom promoter Hearn expressed his shock at the events, whilst admitting he’s never seen Canelo react like he did.“I’ve never seen Canelo Alvarez react like that. It was surprising, I think they both instigated it to be honest with you.

"It surprised me that Canelo even wanted to engage like that. You saw that a little bit in the Golovkin 2 fight, but this seemed a little bit more like a fiery Canelo Alvarez.

“I don’t know if that’s good news or bad news for Danny Jacobs, but he’s definitely rattled,” he continued.

“Again, whether that ups his performance or makes him nervous, I don't know. But it’s a nice little edge to a very important fight tomorrow night.”

The largely-anticipated bout will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas tonight, where all three world titles will be up for grabs.

Canelo has refused to take responsibility for what went down at the weigh-in, though, and is very confident of his chances.

“I see fear, and that was fear what he did there. For me, and for my team and my people, it’s very important. We’re going to win tomorrow. I hope he tries [to win] but he won’t be able to.”

Canelo's last fight came in December 2018 in the super middleweight division against 31-year-old Brit Rocky Fielding, which he won by TKO to improve his record to 51-1 (35).

Jacob's last outing came all the way back in October 2018, where he defeated Serhiy Derevianchenko to clinch the vacant IBF middleweight title. His record now stands at 35-2 (29).

What a battle this promises to be.
