Manchester United officially won't be in the Champions League next season after their 1-1 draw away at Huddersfield Town.It brings an end to a mixed season for United, having gone through several ups and downs. There was the initial hope of a title challenge that was quickly met with complete disillusionment under Jose Mourinho.Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's arrival as caretaker boss sparked a revival, however, and a top-four finish looked quite likely at one stage. But things have fallen apart since the Norwegian was made permanent boss - United have won two of the nine games since.

Now their big rebuild job will have to be done without the support of Champions League football.

And it certainly will be a big rebuild job - plenty of the players will be fearing for their future at the club right now and there are very few players that the fans will want to see next season.

It's become a question of heart and effort, with many accusing the players of simply not putting the work in expected at a club like United.

Luke Shaw, for instance, came under fire after the Huddersfield game for putting in very little effort.

One player who can't be accused of not caring is Scott McTominay, however. Footage after the game yesterday appears to show just how much he does, in fact.

McTominay can be seen sitting on his own in the dugout at the John Smith's Stadium looking quite devastated.

Understandably, United fans like seeing that at least one player appears to care. You can check out their reaction below:

Some fans have even gone back to words Mourinho said on McTominay last September, believing their ex-boss to have been completely right, in hindsight.

"Scott McTominay is a kid with a special character, very humble, aggressive in a positive way, brave, he's a special kid," he said, per Sky Sports.

"He's a special character, a special personality that a team in a negative moment needs. Do my other players have that mentality? Not all of them. Everybody is a different person."

United could certainly use more players like that right now.
