Vincent Kompany may just have scored the goal that clinches the Premier League title for Manchester City. The Belgian, restricted to just 12 league starts this season, smashed home a sensational long-range strike to give City a 1-0 win against Leicester.Pep Guardiola’s side struggled to find a way past the Foxes and there were concerns inside the Etihad Stadium.A draw would have given Liverpool the advantage heading into the final day of the campaign. But up stepped Kompany, who produced a moment that nobody saw coming in the 70th minute.

"I could hear people saying 'don't shoot, don't shoot! But I've not come this far in my career to have young players tell me when to shoot," Kompany said at full-time, per BBC Sport.

And yet, moments after his goal, Kompany delivered a scare to every Man City supporter watching.

Kompany's Gerrard-esque slip

The centre-back slipped after receiving a pass from Ilkay Gundogan in scenes reminiscent of Steven Gerrard’s fall against Chelsea in 2014.

But unlike Gerrard, Kompany was able to recover and compose himself.

That’s how you do it, Stevie.

The 33-year-old’s goal means victory against Brighton on the final day of the season will give City their second straight Premier League title.

They’ve been absolutely incredible this season, winning 13 games in a row since the beginning of February.

And they’ve needed to be perfect. Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have kept the pressure on all the way, losing just once all season.

It’s certainly been one of the very best title races.

Kompany is out of contract in the summer but discussions over his future will be held.

“We are going to take a beer together and decide what is best, especially for the club," Guardiola said.

"He is an incredible human being and he helps me a lot.

“I always said I could not use him a lot, but this club is what it is because of people like Vincent.”

It’s only fitting that Kompany, despite not playing as much this season, would have a major role to play in deciding the title race.
