Ever since that confrontation inside the Octagon at UFC 226, UFC fans around the world have been waiting for the super-fight between Daniel Cormier and Brock Lesnar to be made official.

Even though Lesnar had commitments with WWE, it was expected he could juggle both at once considering he is only a part-time superstar.

His year-long ban from competition after failing a drugs test before UFC 200 in 2016 expired in January and he re-entered the USADA testing pool accordingly.

TMZ Sports reported last week that Lesnar had actually submitted testing to USADA just weeks before telling Dana White that he had retired from MMA, which makes his decision pretty strange indeed.

Dave Meltzer reported that Lesnar wanted a flat fee to fight Cormier because of a change in the way UFC runs their pay-per-view events now on ESPN.

This request was rejected by UFC top brass so Lesnar has pulled a fast one and has 'retired' - but Cormier doesn't fully believe it.

The heavyweight champion will instead face Stipe Miocic in August, but he's also convinced that if he really is offered enough money, Lesnar will change his mind when it comes to the whole 'retirement' thing.

"When we get these fights there are a lot of negotiations, a lot of things that need to be discussed and hammered out. I don’t know if Brock was able to come to terms with UFC, I just don’t know,” Cormier told Ariel Helwani, per MMA Mania.

“I am sure he will bounce back, he always seems to land on his feet. I just got the call that Brock was done fighting and what do I want to do next.

"I think that Brock is a competitor and I do believe that if the right opportunity presents itself for him he would do it. The guy is a fighter.

"Everybody kind of s***s on Brock Lesnar and talk like this guy can’t fight, but he is a fighter and he is a competitor and he likes money.

“So for the right amount of money and the right opportunity, I am sure Brock Lesnar could be convinced to come back.”

Just like Conor McGregor said he had retired months ago, perhaps the same hastiness applies for Lesnar, but he could easily make more money in WWE than UFC, especially with another trip to Saudi Arabia coming up.
