Manchester United are close to signing Swansea City’s Daniel James for £15 million, according to Sky Sports. The 21-year-old winger is set to become Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first signing as permanent manager at Old Trafford. The pacy Welshman was set for a January deadline move to Leeds but it collapsed when Swansea pulled out of the deal at the last minute. But United chiefs have been interested in James for months and have apparently made checks on how comfortable he is playing on the right flank. With his current deal at the Liberty Stadium expiring next summer, the Swans have very little choice to let him leave in the coming months if they want a transfer fee for him.

But how good is he?

James has played 36 times for Swansea this season, scoring five times and registering nine assists.

But there is one goal that he scored this season that will excite United fans.

It came in the FA Cup fifth round clash between Swansea and Brentford as James showed off his ridiculous pace.

The youngster won the ball back on the edge of his own box and used his raw pace to ran past three Brentford defenders.

Nobody could catch him as he steadied himself before finishing brilliantly.

Take a look:

If he can do that sort of thing at the Theatre of Dreams, £15 million will seem like a bargain.

Former United winger and Wales manager Ryan Giggs certainly rates him, that’s for sure.

"He's a talent," Giggs said. When you've got that raw pace, you're a threat at any level so as a winger, obviously for me playing as a winger, when I was younger, you then have to develop the other parts of your game which I feel he is doing.

"He's played up front as well which will help him because that gives you an appreciation of what you need to do."
