It is unsurprising that the England sensation came out on top, his club form this season has been unrivalled, creating 11 assists for his Liverpool teammates in the Premier League, as the Reds look to win the title for the first time in 27 years.

The 20-year-old has also made more assists, created more chances, delivered more crosses and made more interceptions than any other Liverpool player in the Champions League this season.

The defender’s quick thinking punished Spanish champions Barcelona on Tuesday evening, in what many are calling the greatest ever come back in the tournament’s history.

In a flash of brilliance in the 79th minute, TAA caught the Barcelona defence napping as he calmly walked away from the corner flag, then suddenly turned round and fired in a low ball to an un-marked Divock Origi, who smashed home from close range and fired Liverpool into the final.

The play will go down in history as a moment of instinctive genius by a young star who is wise beyond his years and may grow into the greatest right-back the sport has ever seen.

The right-back had been stung to miss out of the first leg at the Camp Nou, where Jurgen Klopp favoured Joe Gomez for his fresh legs, but delivered a response for which he will be long remembered.

The 24-year-old German has earned 40 caps for his country and will be a corner stone for manager Joachim Low moving forward, as Germany look to move on from a bitterly disappointing World Cup campaign last year.
