It will be north London vs west London in the Europa League final as Arsenal and Chelsea booked their place in Baku, Azerbaijan. In the end, the Gunners breezed past Valencia with relative ease as they triumphed 7-3 on aggregate thanks to a 4-2 victory in Spain. As Gooners frantically tried to book flights and accommodation for the final, the other semi-final between Chelsea and Eintracht Frankfurt had entered extra-time and penalties. And there was one Arsenal player who was very keen to find out the outcome.Goalkeeper Petr Cech spent 11 seasons at Stamford Bridge and had just helped Arsenal reach the final.

But instead of celebrating or refuelling like the rest of his teammate's after their success, he desperately wanted to watch the climax of Chelsea’s tie.

In fact, he was so desperate that he watched the penalty shootout at Stamford Bridge on someone else’s phone in the Mestalla mixed zone.

Cech would have been watching as Eden Hazard’s winning penalty set up a mouth-watering clash between his former employers and his current club.

It will be Cech’s final match in professional football as the 36-year-old plans to retire this summer.

And it will be an emotional ending for him.

"Arsenal v Chelsea will really be very emotional for me," he told the BBC.

"The ultimate dream would be to lift the trophy for the last time in the last game.

"Hopefully we can win the final and have the fairytale ending to my career - something that would be special.

"I'll be 37 soon but it's not about the age. I could play for another two years but having played for 20 years at the professional level, I feel that my body has got some scars and my biggest fear was to start the new season and get injuries and not be able to do things 100%.

"The time has come. It might be one or two years early, but I prefer that to being one year late."
