For one reason or another, Mark Lawrenson’s weekly Premier League predictions feature on the BBC Sport website is still a thing.Lawro, who turns 62 next month, has taken a bit of a back seat with the BBC’s televised coverage in recent years but continues to predict every Premier League fixture for the website. He now goes head-to-head against a celebrity each week and, despite his vast experience, doesn’t always come out on top. This season he’s faced off against all sorts of celebs including Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill, Karl Pilkington and Mark Wahlberg. His predictions, to be fair, are usually pretty solid. However, there is one thing that lets him down: his relentless belief in his former club, Liverpool.

Incredibly, for the third season in a row, Lawro has failed to predict a single Liverpool defeat.

If his predictions were accurate, the Reds would currently be on a 114-match unbeaten run.

In the 2016-17 season, Lawro had Liverpool finishing joint-top of the Premier League table, on 92 points, alongside Chelsea.

In the 2017-18 season, he had Liverpool in fourth place with 23 wins, 15 draws and zero defeats.

And this season, he’s got them second in the table with a total of 92 points behind Manchester City.

With his 38th and final round of predictions for the current campaign, Lawro has Man City finishing the season on a whopping 108 points.

Here's the 2018/19 Premier League table based on Lawro's predictions after 37 matches...

To be fair to old Lawro, Liverpool have only lost once this season. He wasn’t a million miles off this time around.

He also more or less predicted the bottom four, which is quite impressive.

But he might find his predictions are more seriously if, just for once, he predicts a Liverpool defeat.
