Barcelona fans would have been harbouring serious hopes of their team winning their sixth Champions League title in club history this season.The Catalan giants looked almost certain to progress to this season's final after beating Liverpool 3-0 in their last four fist leg tie.However, they produced a dramatic collapse in the second leg at Anfield.Barca went 1-0 down after seven minutes when Divock Origi found the back of the net.Georginio Wijnaldum's quick-fire double at the start of the second half restored parity in the tie and Origi would score again to complete the comeback for Liverpool.

Barcelona fans around the world would have been distraught.

The club had been knocked out of the Champions League in dramatic circumstances for the second year running.

Understandably, when the cameras switched to Barcelona fans after Origi's goal they looked distraught.

But they showed their class after the game.

Barcelona had jut been knocked out of the Champions League in one of the club's most disappointing results in their history.

But a classy video of them applauding Liverpool fans' post-match 'You'll Never Walk Alone' has now emerged.

Ernesto Valverde's position as Barcelona manager is now under threat and he felt compelled to apologise to the club's fans after the game.

“We're really sorry to the fans, we all play; everything that we do is to make the fans happy, to make them proud of us," he said, per the Evening Standard.

"Everyone expects us to win all the time but we have lost and in a very painful way.

“This is the first game we have lost in the Champions League this season but we are out. The players are the ones that play on the pitch, they are hurting more than anyone.”
