Arsenal will face Chelsea in the Europa League final on the 29th of May, completing a unique 'grand slam' of sorts for English clubs in Europe.Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur both qualified for the Champions League final, of course, and this will be the first time that all four teams in the two finals are from the same country. But Arsenal v Chelsea goes one further, as it will be the first UEFA Cup or Europa League final between two teams from the same city.It will undoubtedly be a very special occasion. Arsenal would secure their first ever Europe League trophy, while Chelsea can cap off a very up-and-down season with a title.Such an occasion is slightly marred, however, by UEFA's ticket policy. The two London clubs will only receive 6,000 tickets each for the Olympic Stadium in Baku, despite it holding 68,000.

That, quite honestly, is pathetic.

The vast majority of fans in the stadium won't have a horse in the race and will instead be neutrals - not even remotely fitting for such a contest.

And now UEFA have tried to offer an explanation for their decision. It really doesn't reflect well on them, though.

UEFA claim that previous finals in similar areas show that around 15,000 spectators would travel, so they didn't see any reason to offer more than 12,000 tickets.

They believe that offering more than that wouldn't have been 'responsible' as there was no guarantee that fans would travel.

Even if that is an entirely truthful reason - you can make your own mind up about that - UEFA themselves are the ones who decided to host the final in Azerbaijan.

And they apparently did so with the knowledge that very few fans would be able to actually go and watch it.

This isn't the first time that loyal, match-going fans have been let down and it won't be the last, but things are really starting to get out of hand.
