Luke Harper is a WWE superstar that deserves a lot of sympathy from WWE fans.

Despite being stuck in the tag team division for the majority of his WWE career, his loyal fans had been waiting for a while for the eventual singles push that somebody of his talent deserved.

RELEASE

The best time many thought it would happen was during Randy Orton's feud with Bray Wyatt, with fans assuming that WWE would place him in the WWE Championship match, turning their singles match at WrestleMania some years ago into a triple threat contest.

Nothing like that ever materialised and since then, he's been in a slump in the tag team division and taking time out following injuries which required surgery.

With WWE not utilising him, it comes as no surprise that Harper had asked for his release, something the company has refused to do.

Instead, they've added extra months on to make up for the time he was inactive and haven't booked him for any televised events either. The fact he only competed at Axxess during WrestleMania weekend speaks volumes on how much the company values him.

It's also been claimed that Vince McMahon just doesn't understand Harper as a character and a feud with Sami Zayn had also been scrapped for that reason.

It now looks like Harper could have a bigger battle on his hands to get out of his WWE contract.

Harper continues to not be given any bookings by WWE and the company has stood its ground by not letting him out of his contract, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Harper's original WWE contract was set to expire in November 2019, but the WWE has decided to extend his deal by a further six months. This was due to the time that Harper was inactive while he was recovering from a wrist injury.

When the contract was extended, Harper went directly to Vince McMahon to see if he could be let out in November. Instead, McMahon told him to take it up with Triple H. When Harper did reach out to Triple H, he was ignored completely.

With AEW signing up new talent, it's clear to see why WWE will be hesitant to let their stars go.

Still, it's upsetting to hear that Harper is stuck in this situation with management not being receptive.
