What a season of Premier League football we’ve had.

We enter the final day of the campaign still not knowing who will be lifting that famous trophy this afternoon.

Manchester City are in pole position aware that a win at Brighton this afternoon would see them retain their title.

Failure to beat Brighton could see Liverpool leapfrog them, if Jurgen Klopp’s side can win against Wolves at Anfield.

While City are expected to retain the Premier League trophy, Mohamed Salah is also expected to retain the Golden Boot trophy.

The Egyptian is two goals clear of Sergio Aguero, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Sadio Mane having notched 22 this campaign.

We may have the same champions and Golden Boot winner as last season but this season has been anything but predictable.

We only need to look at pre-season predictions from Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville to prove that.

On Monday Night Football ahead of the new season, Carragher and Neville were asked to predict what would happen in the Premier League over the next eight months.

The seven predictions they had to make were: Champions, top-four, top-six challenger, top goalscorer, Player of the year, young talent and one to watch.

So, how have they fared?

Well, they both opted for Man City to win the league and they look to have nailed that one.

For the rest of the top-four, they both said that Liverpool would come second, Manchester United third and Spurs fourth.

As things stand, they’ve called Liverpool and Spurs’ positions correctly. Chelsea are set to finish third instead of United - who are in sixth.

Carragher and Neville both went for Everton to challenge for the top-six. The Toffees are eighth, 13 points behind United in sixth. They’re guaranteed to finish below Wolves in seventh, too.

The two Sky Sports pundits disagreed on their top goalscorer prediction.

Carragher went for Kane, while Neville went for Aguero. Neville’s prediction could still happen but Carragher is out of the running with Kane five goals off the pace and currently sidelined with injury.

Interestingly, they both went David Silva for PFA Player of the Year. While the Spaniard has been brilliant once again, he wasn't named in the six-man PFA Player of the Year shortlist and didn’t make the Team of the Year, either.

Young talent? Carragher said Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon - who has underwhelmed in the top-flight this season. While Neville went for Phil Foden, who has found Premier League football hard to come by at the Etihad.

Carragher may want to hang his head in shame after he picked out Naby Keita as the ‘One to watch.’

The midfielder arrived from RB Leipzig last summer for £52.75m after the Reds waited 12 months for him to arrive but has suffered an inconsistent season with numerous injuries and lack of form.

Meanwhile, Neville fared slightly better by picking Alisson who has been crucial in Liverpool’s title challenge - and run to the Champions League final for that matter.
