Liverpool have finished second in the Premier League table on 97 points after Manchester City secured a 4-1 victory away at Brighton on Sunday afternoon. The Reds needed to better City’s result at the Amex Stadium but could only equal it.They defeated Wolves 2-0, with both goals coming from Sadio Mane. For Everton and Manchester United supporters, this was their preferred outcome. The majority of their fanbases made no secret of the fact they didn’t want to see Jurgen Klopp and his players becoming champions of England for the first time since 1990.

Everton’s fans who’d travelled to London to watch their final game of the season against Tottenham were over the moon at full-time after seeing that City had denied Liverpool the title.

They were filmed euphorically chanting: “You lost the league at Goodison Park”.

Watch the footage here…

Why are they signing that Liverpool lost the league at Goodison Park?

Well, Liverpool last dropped points in the league at Everton’s home ground, back on March 3.

Had the Reds won that match, they would now be celebrating with the Premier League trophy.

It’s a game of small margins.

Liverpool won their last nine games in a row in the league, but City have won their last 14.

And it’s Pep Guardiola’s side who are now back-to-back Premier League champions as a result.

Everton fans were also heard chanting: "When Tottenham win the cup, we're gonna have a party".

Rivalry in football is still alive and well.
