Liverpool’s players and coaching staff have plenty to be proud about, despite narrowly missing out on this season’s Premier League title.

Finishing the campaign on 97 points - which, by the way, even surpasses Manchester United’s best tally of the Premier League era - is a magnificent achievement.

However, they were pipped to the post by Manchester City, who won their last 14 league fixtures to finish on 98 points and secure the title for the second successive season.

Sky Sports understandably cut to the celebrations at the Amex Stadium after the results were confirmed.

It was only right that we got to see Vincent Kompany and co. lift the Premier League trophy, rather than Liverpool’s lap of honour.

Liverpool fans were disappointed by this season; however, they can now watch the footage after their club uploaded a six-minute video.

Supporters at Anfield proudly sang ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’, while the players enjoyed the occasion with their partners and children.

We also saw the club’s owners thanking Klopp for what has been a memorable campaign.

Klopp taking off his hat and saluting the Liverpool fans was also a nice touch.

Liverpool, of course, can still end the season on an extremely high note.

They take on Tottenham in the Champions League final on June 1 following their miraculous comeback against Barcelona at Anfield last week.

Speaking after Sunday’s 2-0 win over Wolves, Klopp told BBC Sport: "We wanted to write our own history and we did,

"The team made so many big steps in the last year. We made a much bigger jump development wise."

He added: "The boys pushed themselves to new levels, which I love, and that development and improvement is not finished. It is the first try. This team is one of the best that ever played for Liverpool; 100%.

"As long as Manchester City are around with their financial power, no team will pass them easily. We need to be very close to perfection to win the Premier League as long as this is the case."

Rest assured, Klopp and his players will be more than ready to do battle with Man City once again come August.
