Liverpool fans produced an incredible atmosphere at the end of Wolves win

Liverpool's wait for a Premier League title will go on for at least another season.

Jurgen Klopp's side put in a professional display against Wolves on Sunday as they emerged 2-0 victors at Anfield.

But Manchester City's 4-1 win at Brighton meant it was the Citizens who were crowned champions.

Despite the disappointment, it's still been a hugely successful season.

The club had the best defence in the league, lost just once and accumulated 97 points.

With a young squad at their disposal, Liverpool are well equipped to make another run at the Premier League title next season.

And Liverpool fans personified the positivity around the club with their reaction to the final whistle at Anfield.

Liverpool had failed in their attempt to win the league for the first time in 29 years.

Jurgen Klopp's side can still win the Champions League this season and the German has branded the campaign as a 'very special' one.

"The team made so many big steps in the last year," he said, per the BBC. "The boys were all there from last season apart from [goalkeeper] Alisson.

Jurgen Klopp branded Liverpool's campaign 'special'

"It's a very special season, a better season than I played with my team [Dortmund] when we were champions in Germany. But we cannot ignore one team were better.

"It's clear we were lucky in moments, like City were. We were unlucky against City but scored in the last second against Everton and late on against Newcastle - they could have been draws as well.

"The season is a very long, hard one. You have to deal with setbacks. We were always competitive. City got the points they have because we were there.

"They have 198 points in two years; that's special. We made such big steps. Always after a good year we lost key players [in the past] but we won't so we'll be there again."
