Liverpool could not have done more to win the Premier League this season.

Sunday's 2-0 win over Wolves saw the Reds finish on 97 points having lost just once all campaign - and yet they still came second.

Manchester City clinched the title on the final day after recovering from 1-0 down against Brighton to win 4-1, which put them on 98 points.

It was an exhilarating title race - perhaps the best in Premier League history - and Liverpool deserve huge credit for pushing City right until the very end.

Jurgen Klopp was the brains behind their challenge, while the players were pretty much flawless in every department on the pitch.

They ought to be very proud of what they've achieved this season and the best could be yet to come with a Champions League final on the horizon.

Liverpool fans are certainly proud of the team, despite what rival supporters may say.

Indeed, one Man City fan tweeted on Sunday: "I don't get why Liverpool fans are so proud of being happy they've failed AGAIN."

Naturally the tweet didn't go down very well, with one Liverpool fan called LFC Torres responding by listing why they're so proud in a fantastic Twitter thread. Check it out below.

Well said.

Liverpool fans have waited years for a league title and even though it didn't happen this season, the Reds have shown that they're ready to end their drought.

Exciting times lie ahead for Klopp's side, who are only going to get stronger now that players like Alisson, Virgil van Dijk and Fabinho have played a full season at Anfield.
