Manchester City's title win yesterday will go down as one of the greatest England has ever seen.

While the Citizens couldn't match their 100-point total from last season, their 14-game winning run to beat Liverpool by a single point was arguably a more impressive feat.

The pressure was on in every game, but Pep Guardiola's side refused to buckle and kept on grinding out win after win.

City became the first team to defend the Premier League title since Manchester United, who won three on the trot between 2006 and 2009.

Guardiola is slowly solidifying his place among the division's greatest ever manager and former Liverpool midfielder Paul Ince believes the Spaniard's presence will stop the Reds winning the league for the foreseeable future.

Speaking on BT Sport, Ince said: "As long as Pep is at City, they won't win it. If Pep was to move, then I think Liverpool have more chance of winning it.

"I don't want that to happen because Klopp has done a fabulous job, but he's so reliant on the front three. He's brought Xherdan Shaqiri in and not given him enough game-time.

"If Roberto Firmino is injured who comes in? Divock Origi was on loan in Belgium so he's not going to play week in, week out.

"The City team is world class, Liverpool could add two or three to that. They can always keep challenging but I don't think they've got enough to beat them."

Interesting...

While the general point Ince is making is one that should be discussed, the idea that Klopp is so reliant on his first-choice front three has been made redundant in recent weeks.

Origi - who has never been on loan in Belgium - has come in and scored crucial goals against Newcastle and Barcelona in the absence of Firmino.

If anything, Liverpool's biggest reliance is on Virgil van Dijk, who has transformed the side from exciting top-four hopefuls into one of Europe's most fearsome sides.

Without the Dutchman's towering presence at the back, it would be hard to see Liverpool matching City over the course of a 38-game season.
