Alex Goode celebrated his Champions Cup Final victory in some style as the Saracens full-back was pictured wearing his full kit a full 24 hours after lifting the trophy. The final was a special occasion for all the Saracens’ players to celebrate as they came from behind to beat Leinster 10-20 on English soil at St James’ Park.Their Irish counterparts were 10 points ahead after 39 minutes but blew their lead after tries from Sean Maitland and Billy Vunipola - aided by the ever-consistent kicking produced by Owen Farrell. The victory booked the Saracens a place in the history books as they became the first English team to win three Champions Cups and it was their third in just four years. After the match, Goode received the EPCR European Player of the Year award and gave an interview filled with passion. This soon transferred into jubilation as he went off to celebrate with his teammates.

Now, superstitions and rituals have always been a thing in sport, but I bet you haven’t quite heard of leaving your kit on for over 24 hours after having played a full game of rugby.

But this is exactly what Goode did. He hadn’t gone home to change as the rest of his squad did and instead went straight to the pub. Maitland captured the remarkable occasion and uploaded it to his Instagram story.

There, Goode can be seen with a pint in hand, socks rolled up, the laces on his bright yellow boots tied, but perhaps most impressively, his mouth guard still tucked into his sock.

In fact, the only thing to Goode’s outfit that would misplace him on the pitch was a strap bag around his waist. You can only imagine his EPCR trophy was tucked away in it along with the change he just received from buying a very well-earned pint of Guinness.
