Liverpool have had another successful Champions League campaign.

The Reds were placed in a hard group alongside Napoli and Paris Saint-Germain.

But Jurgen Klopp's side were able to defeat the Italians on the final day to progress to the knockout rounds.

They have since beaten Bayern Munich, Porto and Barcelona to reach the final in Madrid.

Liverpool will be hoping to make up for their defeat against Real Madrid in the final last year by beating Tottenham at the Wanda Metropolitano.

They will go into the game as favourites to win their sixth Champions League title.

However, the appointment of the referee is not good for Liverpool fans.

It was announced on Tuesday afternoon that Damir Skomina will take charge for the game.

And Liverpool's record with him as the referee is not good at all.

Liverpool have played five times with Skomina in charge, losing four of those.

The Liverpool games he has been referee for have been listed below:

Liverpool 1-2 Fiorentina (09/12/2009)

Besiktas 2-1 Liverpool (26/02/2015)

Villarreal 1-0 Liverpool (28/04/2016)

Roma 4-2 Liverpool (02/05/2018)

Liverpool 1-0 Napoli (11/12/2018)

That does not look good for Liverpool.

The Reds did manage to break the hoodoo back in December, but even the most ardent of Liverpool fan's will admit that they did not play very well that day.

Skomina has also played a massive role in this season's Champions League.

He was the referee for Manchester United's dramatic victory against Paris Saint-Germain back in the last 16 this season.

Skomina gave a dramatic last minute penalty, which Marcus Rashford dispatched to send the English side through.

Liverpool will be hoping that there is no repeat of a controversial decision like that in Madrid.

And if there is, they will be hoping that he gives it in their favour...
