Anthony Martial's 2018/19 season with Manchester United was certainly a mixed bag.

The Frenchman was one of the few players to show some fight and ambition during Jose Mourinho's final days as manager.

Between October and Mourinho's final match against Liverpool on December 16, the 23-year-old scored seven goals, including a brace away at Chelsea.

And he even scored during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first match in charge against Cardiff, a game the Red Devils won 5-1.

But since then, things on the pitch have been dire for the former Monaco forward.

He's scored just three goals in 18 appearances and has been hammered by United fans for his clear lack of effort.

Despite signing a new £250,000-a-week deal this year, there's been serious talk that Solskjaer would be willing to part ways with the Frenchman.

But it seems the Norwegian won't have the chance to offload Martial and rebuild his forward line, because he has been overruled by the club's co-chairman Joel Glazer.

As per the Mirror, Martial's future is secure at the club because Glazer views him as the club's 'Pele'.

The co-chairman regards him as his favourite player at the club.

It seems those at the top are not bothered by the thoughts of the manager, a similar scenario which saw the downfall of Mourinho.

Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward refused to sanction deals that Mourinho wanted to improve the squad and the pair's relationship was never the same after.

This time, an even higher ranked member of the United hierarchy has openly disregarded the manager's opinion.

In such a pivotal summer for the club - where they will need to overhaul the squad - such disagreements between members of staff will not go down well with fans.

United are in a hole and digging themselves out of it will be a very, very tough task under the current regime.
