Arsenal fans were beginning to panic earlier today after somebody noticed that Alexandre Lacazette had his own page under the ‘players’ tab on Barcelona’s official website. The page showed the French striker’s key stats including ‘Place of Birth’, ‘Date of Birth’, ‘Wright’, ‘Height’ and ‘Club Debut’.It seemed curious that Barça would have a rival player’s profile on their official website. Had they let the cat out of the bag? Were they planning to announce his signing this summer? If the Catalan giants were interested in signing the French striker, it wouldn’t be a massive shock. The 27-year-old, who has scored 36 goals in 87 games for the Gunners since joining the club in 2017, would make a decent back-up striker for Ernesto Valverde’s side.

However, there’s been talk in recent days that Arsenal were planning to reward Lacazette with a bumper new contract.

It would make very little sense if the Gunners had decided to cash-in on their recently-crowned Player of the Season.

However, Arsenal fans needn’t worry about the prospect of Lacazette leaving the Emirates Stadium for Camp Nou.

It turns out that Lacazette isn’t the only opposition player to feature on Barça’s official website.

Every player who plays against the La Liga champions gets their own page.

Subsequently, there are many weird and wonderful players you can find on there: James Milner, Rio Ferdinand, Nathan Dyer, Steve Bould - and so on.

Lacazette is not about to become Barça’s latest signing, much to the relief of Arsenal fans everywhere.
