Manchester City managed to hold off Liverpool in the race for Premier League crown on Sunday.Pep Guardiola's side clinched their second consecutive title with a 4-1 victory against Brighton & Hove Albion. They finished the league campaign on 98 points, one clear of Liverpool.Of course, Man City players were ecstatic in the aftermath. But they have come under fire after the club's players and staff were filmed mocking Liverpool after the title was wrapped up.

According to the Metro, City's players and staff sang an offensive chant directed at Liverpool on the plane back to Manchester on Sunday.

They sang about Liverpool's Champions League final loss last year, Vincent Kompany injuring Mohamed Salah and saying they were 'battered in the streets'.

The video was circulated on social media and can be watched below:

And the lyrics are below:

All the way to Kiev,
To end up in defeat,
Crying in the stands,
And battered in the streets,
Kompany injured Salah,
Victims of it all,
Sterling won the double,
The Scousers won f*** all,
Allez, Allez, Allez
Allez, Allez, Allez

Of course, this caused a massive backlash.

Liverpool fans were understandably not happy with the song.

But, despite Man City being criticised, it appears they have escaped punishment.

According to Paul Joyce of the Times, The FA says that the club will face no action following alleged chants about Liverpool players and fans as no rules and regulations have been breached.

There were suggestions that the line 'battered in the streets' was a reference to Liverpool fan Sean Cox, who was hospitalised after being attacked by Roma supporters last year.

And his brother, Martin, has said that he was 'disgusted' by the chant.

"If I'm honest I'm disgusted," he told Radio City, per the Liverpool Echo. "Singing and chanting those words, it's like it gives the impression that it's okay for people to carry out attacks like that on people in the streets.

"It's a matter very close to our hearts and whether they say it's about Sean or not, the first thing I think about is Sean being attacked."
