Liverpool fell agonizingly short of a first Premier League title on the final day of the season as Manchester City came from behind to beat Brighton and defend their crown.Jurgen Klopp’s side amassed a staggering 97 points over the course of the season but it proved to be only good enough for second place, as City finished on 98.It was possibly the greatest title race of all time with neither team willing to surrender an inch in their pursuit of glory. While they may have fallen short right at the last, there is still plenty for Liverpool fans to be positive about.Their side closed a 25 point gap to City and will play in their second consecutive Champions League final on the 1st of June.

Klopp has handcrafted one of the finest Liverpool teams of a generation, and fans are confident that the glory days of years gone by are once again waiting around the corner.

Naturally, the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Alisson Becker have grabbed the headlines throughout the season, but this Liverpool squad is littered with unsung heroes who also deserve mention.

Giorginio Wijnaldum has been superb, Jordan Henderson tireless and the evergreen James Milner once again showed his value.

However, at the beginning of the season, the Anfield faithful were probably most excited about seeing new signing Naby Keita take to the field in Liverpool red.

Klopp and co. had been made to wait an entire season for the Guinean midfielder and after a solid debut against West Ham, many concluded that he had been well worth the wait.

Sadly, Keita’s form dipped and injuries curtailed his season.

As a result, he was never able to truly leave his mark on Klopp’s side and, at the end of his first season on Merseyside, the jury may still be out for many fans on Keita.

However, some fans have been sharing a video online of Keita’s best bits from the season and it shows his year in a new light.

Ten minutes of Keita showing exactly what he’s capable of? Lovely stuff.

Unfortunately, Liverpool will have to do without Keita when they take to the field in Madrid but you can be sure he will be desperate to play a major role in their pursuit of silverware next season.

If the video above is anything to go by, Keita could be a player of the year candidate come this time next year.

Exciting times lie ahead.
