WWE fans around the world were concerned with the health of Ric Flair yesterday as news emerged that he had been taken to hospital.

TMZ reported that The Nature Boy had been rushed to an Atlanta-based hospital for, what was being reported at the time, a 'very serious' medical emergency.

However, during a media call to promote Starrcast this afternoon, Flair's son-in-law Conrad Thompson said that the 70-year-old underwent a scheduled surgery.

He added that the situation was not nearly as serious as TMZ has made the situation out to be, stating that this was a procedure that Flair needed and he made the decision to have it before visiting Las Vegas as opposed to waiting until after the trip.

Flair's wife, Wendy Barlow, has since released a statement to TMZ Sports to give fans further updates about the 16-time world champion's health condition.

She said: “Due to ongoing health complications, Ric was taken to the hospital and is expected to undergo a procedure tomorrow morning, after which he expects to fully recover.”

It's still unclear as to what procedure Flair underwent yesterday, but Pro Wrestling Sheet has reported that he's been dealing with some heart issues as of late.

Either way, Thompson's comments followed by Wendy's statement have defused the situation from one which looked very concerning yesterday when the initial news broke.

It was only back in 2017 that the 70-year-old had a previous health scare that was life-threatening.

Then, he was in critical condition and was placed in a medically induced coma for 11 days after his intestine ruptured.

The Nature Boy has made several WWE appearances over the past couple of months, as he was involved in the Triple H vs Batista storyline before and at WrestleMania 35.

WWE celebrated Flair's 70th birthday on the February 25 episode of Monday Night Raw. On that night, he was attacked by Batista before he could make his way to the ring from his locker room.

The 16-time world champion was able to get his revenge on The Animal at WrestleMania, as he helped The Game by handing him a sledgehammer and by distracting Batista so that he could pick up the pinfall win.

Get well soon, Flair!
