Conor McGregor has blown sporting fans away with his recent grand gesture, and has pledged to build eight homes for vulnerable people without a permanent place of residence in his home country of Ireland.

He recently visited the construction site and talked with some of the development workers as he checked the current progress and met some of the people who reside in the area.

Like many sporting superstars who reach elite level, McGregor enjoys displaying how money is very rarely an issue for him on his social media accounts, and showcased images of the project for his Instagram followers to see his act of generosity taking place.

The patriotic Irishman said: “Ireland forever! Ireland first! Ireland always!”

He also commented on his interactions with the inhabitants.

“Walking around this land and these homes today, meeting all the neighbours, knowing that soon there will be families living here, creating their own memories, and building back their lives, gives me great pride.”

Supporters gushed with admiration for his exploits with a fan remarking, “That’s amazing! What a great way to give back,” and another fan commenting, “It’s nice to see a sportsman with a new found wealth remembering where he came from and doing good for others.”

Many celebrity athletes (perhaps unfairly) suffer from reputational damage, mostly because of their contentious personal relationships and lavish lifestyles.

Significant donations to charities and housing the homeless go a long way in changing public opinion and mitigating harm to their brand.

Let’s not forget how McGregor came from humble beginnings and has had to literally fight (pun intended) for every financial reward that he has benefited from.

We salute you Conor!
