Arnold Schwarzenegger was attacked from behind while appearing at a charity event in South Africa this weekend. Per BBC, The former powerlifter turned Hollywood star was interacting with fans during a skipping competition at his Arnold Classic Africa sporting event in Johannesburg. While Schwarzenegger's back was turned, shocking footage shows the attacker running up behind him and landing the kick, before being quickly restrained by security.
The attacker, who has not been named, was then removed from the area while Arnie looks on. You can watch the incident below.

Schwarzenegger responded to the attack on Twitter shortly after.

"Thanks for your concerns, but there is nothing to worry about," he wrote.

"I thought I was just jostled by the crowd, which happens a lot. I only realised I was kicked when I saw the video like all of you."

The Terminator star went even further to play down the incident and urged fans to concentrate on the athletes who appeared at the charity event, rather than the incident that soured it.

"We have 90 sports here in South Africa at the @ArnoldSports, and 24,000 athletes of all ages and abilities inspiring all of us to get off the couch. Let’s put this spotlight on them," he tweeted.

Schwarzenegger, now 71-years-old, was in South Africa working with the Arnold Sports Festival, which is an annual multi-sport event.

The festival consists of professional competitions in bodybuilding (Arnold Classic), strongman (Arnold Strongman Classic), fitness and figure.

It's now been running for 30 years and is one of the most prestigious events in professional bodybuilding.
