Kylian Mbappe cast doubt on his PSG future after Ligue 1 awards ceremony

Kylian Mbappe dominated at the awards ceremony

Kylian Mbappe cleaned up the Ligue 1 end-of-season awards last night.

The 20-year-old Frenchman was named the Player of the Season and the Young Player of the Season after scoring 32 goals in 28 games - he still has one more game to play as well.

Only Barcelona's Lionel Messi has been more devastating in front of goal that the Paris Saint-Germain starlet in 2018/19.

Neymar's prolonged absence through injury handed Mbappe more responsibility in the latter stages of the season, but he was thriving alongside the Brazilian as well.

However, after scooping his awards late last night, Mbappe seemed to cast doubt over his future in Paris.

He stated that he wanted even more responsibility, whether that be with PSG or a new new project.

"Of course there were some disappointments [this season] but it's part of football, we managed to win this league," he said after accepting his awards, per Goal.

"I would like to thank the players, the coach, the club again. It's important for me because I come to a first or a second turning point in my career.

"I discovered a lot of things here. I feel it's time to have more responsibility. I hope it may be Paris Saint-Germain, it will be with great pleasure, or it may be elsewhere for a new project, but I would like to say thank you."

Mbappe has scored 32 Ligue 1 goals this season

When asked to clarify his comments in the post-ceremony mixed zone, Mbappe refused to put water on the fire.

“I said what I had to say. When you are in such an occasion you can send messages, I think I have sent mine," Mbappe replied to reporters.

"If I speak more it will be too much and that is not the message I wish to send.”

Are you listening, Real Madrid?

Could Mbappe's quotes spark Zidane into action?

While Mbappe would command a world-record fee at this point in time, Los Blancos have never been afraid to stun the world of football with such a bid.

It could be an interesting summer in Paris...
