Matthijs de Ligt is set to join Barcelona in the summer from Ajax.According to Sky Sports, the Dutch centre-back will reject interest from English clubs and join his international colleague Frenkie de Jong in Catalonia.Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City have all been linked with the 19-year-old superstar, who captained Ajax to the Champions League semi-final and the Eredivisie title. It is still unclear how much Barca will spend to bring the Dutchman to the Camp Nou, but it is expected to be between €60-70m.Spanish football expert Guillem Balague tweeted earlier today that Barca were one of three clubs interested and that they were actually offering the least amount of money.

However, the Blaugrana were relying on the likes of De Jong, Lionel Messi and the club's playing style to convince De Ligt to join.

It appears to have worked.

The rumours surrounding Liverpool's interest in De Ligt had grown in recent days, but James Pearce of the Echo was quick to clarify today that the Reds were never interested in a deal.

Pearce wrote: "The Echo understands that is not the case and that Liverpool are not trying to secure the services of De Ligt.

"Jurgen Klopp is happy with his centre-back options and isn't looking to strengthen his squad in that department."
