Losing 5-0 to a promoted side is not a good sign

So, where to start after that mortifying 5-0 defeat to Newcastle? It even pains me to write that. Avram clearly forgot his scarf because there was anything but luck on the Hammers side during that game.

It’s never going to be a perfect season but 5-0 against promoted side Newcastle is actually unacceptable. Grant is not the only one to blame, the players seriously under-performed. Our chances of survival are even less at the minute and we have more games played than most bottom-half teams.

In fairness, from the four previous games, the Hammers secured eight points with two wins and two draws. But what happened against Newcastle? They didn’t even look like the team we saw at the start of the season. The strikers just weren’t up to it and our defence just couldn’t cope.

As I live in Ireland, West Ham fans are as rare as two left feet and when we suffer a heavy loss, I’m usually subjected to large amounts of abuse. Hence why my facebook page will not be touched until the score line is forgotten about.

Grant came out after the game and said “It was a bad day at the office.” It was a little bit more than a bad day at the office Avram! It was slightly more humiliating than that 6-0 defeat to Reading back in the 06/07 season.

There’s talk once again of Grant losing his job with the likes of Ray Wilkins now being linked to it. We’re used to it but the rumours and talk seem to have a reason right now.

It’s time to start worrying now. After all the belief we’ve had in the side this season, that’s the thanks we get. I beg you Avram, please sort it out and restore our faith in the Hammers.
