Robin van Persie played his last game as a professional footballer earlier this month following a great career spanning 18 years.

He started out as a young and exciting striker with Feyenoord before joining Arsene Wenger's Arsenal for £2.75m.

It was in north London where the Dutchman made a name for himself, scoring 132 goals in 278 games between 2004 and 2012.

Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United then came calling and in one of the most controversial transfers in English football history, Van Persie made a £22.5m switch.

He scored 26 Premier League goals in his debut season en route to winning his first and only league title.

In 2015 Van Persie moved to Turkish club Fenerbahce before going back to where it all started with Feyenoord and eventually calling it a day.

Van Persie will go down as one of the greatest strikers of his generation, not least for becoming the Netherlands national team's record goalscorer with 50 goals.

The past week has been time to reflect for the 35-year-old, who gave a fascinating 'quick-fire questions' interview with the BBC.

From naming his best strike partner, to his best teammate and picking between Wenger and Ferguson, Van Persie had a hard time answering every question.

He was also asked to name the best player he's played against, to which he answered: "There was a partnership, Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand."

Here's the transcript in full:
