Daniel James’ father has tragically passed away at the age of 60, days before his son’s move to Manchester United.United will give the Swansea City winger and his family all the time and space they need to come to terms with the bereavement.The 21-year-old’s father had been ill but the family did not expect him to pass away so suddenly, according to the Mirror.James was poised to complete a £15 million move to Old Trafford later this week, but the transfer is now likely to be delayed.The Wales international, who has scored five goals and provided 10 assists in 38 games for Swansea this season, was expected to become Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first summer signing ahead of what promises to be a busy summer for the United boss.

James has caught the eye of Premier League clubs this season but it’s United who appear to have won the race for his signature.

Solskjaer has reportedly earmarked the Yorkshire-born winger as the solution to their issues on the right flank, having made specific enquiries to Swansea about his ability to play that role.

However, the versatile James can play on either wing or through the middle.

Although born in England, James represents Wales at international thanks to his late father, who was born in Aberdare.

The Mirror add that he watched his son’s Wales debut on television - a 1-0 defeat to Albania - last November.

James almost joined Leeds on deadline day in January, only for the deal to collapse.

However, his performances since then have earned him a dream move to United.

Ahead of the new season, and once he has come to terms with his father’s tragic passing, he will link up with the Wales squad for their forthcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers away to Croatia on June 8 and Hungary three days later.
