The first all-English Champions League final since 2008 is just a week away now as last year's runners-up Liverpool face first-time finalists Tottenham Hotspur.

Liverpool's front three of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane are one of the deadliest trios around but they'll be going up against a formidable backline in Madrid.

Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen are two of the smartest centre-backs around and Davinson Sanchez has developed his game hugely by playing alongside the Belgian pair.

However, another top-class defender that the Colombian has been learning from is Sergio Ramos - who captained Real Madrid to Champions League glory against Liverpool last season.

The aggressive Sanchez is set to line up in Mauricio Pochettino's starting XI and he's explained that watching footage of Ramos is inspiring him ahead of the showdown with Jurgen Klopp's men.

Ramos v Salah in 2018 CL final

Alongside Gareth Bale's stunning bicycle kick and Loris Karius' absolute nightmare, one of the biggest stories from last year's Champions League final was Ramos v Salah.

The pair got tangled up as they battled for possession and it unfortunately resulted in Salah being substituted off in tears just before the half-hour mark with a shoulder injury.

The moment established Ramos as a villain in the hearts and minds of Liverpool supporters but Sanchez is actually taking inspiration from the Madrid and Spain skipper.

Sanchez on Ramos ahead of 2019 CL final

"I don't just want to learn when I am the club, I learn when I go home too," Sanchez, who joined Spurs from Ajax in 2017, told The Mirror, via Liverpool Echo.

"It helps me when I am on the pitch. Watching DVDs, it was unbelievable the way (Sergio Ramos) defends. He has that character you need to play that position."

Like Ramos, Sanchez will be taking no prisoners when he battles Liverpool and insists strong, potentially dangerous challenges are sometimes a necessary part of football.

"A final is about winning," the 22-year-old added. "You can’t wait for the opponent to be better than you, or let them start to play their football.

"We are going to start aggressively. A final is about this. Everyone wants to win the trophy. If you have to crash, you have to crash. You don’t care. You have to tackle.

"Football is not composed of just taking the ball, or clearing the ball, properly. Without touching the opponent? No. If you clear the ball and the opponent is in there; I feel sorry for the opponent!”

Sanchez also expressed admiration for Firmino and teammate Harry Kane for the work they put in off the ball, but it's clear that the defender isn't going to hold anything back on June 1.
