What have we done to deserve Mike Dean?
The Premier League referee has developed a cult following as a result of his unusual behaviour during matches.
Whether it’s appearing to celebrate when a team scores, handing out no-look yellow cards, or muttering “off you pop” after sending players off, Dean is pure box office.
It is thought that a referee has done his job properly if he isn’t spoken about at full-time. But that’s not the case with Dean.
And it’s not just as a ref that Dean is a delight to watch.

Earlier in the month, Dean was spotted in the away end during Tranmere’s League Two play-off semi-final at Forest Green Rovers.
Turns out that Dean is a Tranmere supporter.
Dean was at League Two play-off final
All the cameras were on him as he celebrated Tranmere’s victory, which secured a spot in the play-off final at Wembley Stadium.
Well, today (May 25) marked the day of the final. And of course, Dean was in attendance.
Tranmere were up against Newport County for a place in League One and they emerged victorious thanks to Connor Jennings’ late winner in the second half of extra time.
Tranmere’s fans were in ecstasy but Dean stole the show by leaping out of his chair and celebrating wildly on the steps.
Never change, Mike.

Tranmere’s 1-0 win means it’s not back-to-back promotions for Rovers.
The game was sent to extra time but Tranmere were given the advantage when Newport captain Mark O’Brien was sent off for two bookable offences in the 89th minute.
County boss Michael Flynn’s side felt they deserved a penalty just moments before they were reduced to 10 men, compounding their misery at Wembley Stadium.
With penalties just seconds away, Jennings headed home a cross from Jake Caprice to book Tranmere’s spot in League One for next season.
