Max Verstappen's penalty notice has been revealed following his controversial collision with Mercedes' Valtteri Bottas in the Monaco Grand Prix earlier today.A safety car was deployed after Charles Leclerc suffered a puncture when he spun trying to overtake Nico Hulkenberg for 11th place on lap eight in an attempt to recover due to not getting past the first session in qualifying a day prior. It was what happened when the safety car was deployed that has made the headlines, though, as eventual race winner Lewis Hamilton led the leaders into the pits with Bottas backing up Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel to give Mercedes the time they needed to service both cars.Red Bull's stop was very quick, though - too quick - and Verstappen was released into the path of Bottas, which resulted in the two cars making contact and the latter being forced into the pit wall on the outside.Verstappen took second place whilst Bottas was left with a puncture, resulting in another pit stop for Hamilton's Mercedes teammate on the next lap as Vettel overtook.

The incident cost Verstappen dearly, though, and although he finished in second, a five-second time penalty followed and his penalty notice shows he also received two points on his licence, his seventh in a 12-month period.

It reads at 15:27, Aston Martin Red Bull Racing were in breach of Article 28.13 a) of the FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations as 'Car 33' was released from the pit unsafely and struck Car 88 - a mistake, as Bottas was in Car 77.

Red Bull can appeal the decision - in accordance with Article 15 of the FIA International Sporting Code and Article 9.1.1 of the FIA Judical and Disciplinary Rules - but they would be very lucky to get away with this one.

Hamilton's composed victory was the 77th of his career and he now leads his teammate Bottas by 17 points in the Drivers' Championship.

What a weekend of racing after an emotional week in the world of F1.
