On the 20th anniversary of the most famous night in the club’s history, Manchester United gave their supporters a reason to smile after an extremely disappointing end to the 2018/19 season.Sir Alex Ferguson and the players who beat Bayern Munich in that unforgettable Champions League final at the Camp Nou on May 26, 1999, returned to Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon for the Treble reunion match.Phil Neville, Ryan Giggs and Roy Keane were the only absentees in a squad which featured various United legends including David Beckham, Peter Schmeichel and Paul Scholes.More than 60,000 fans turned up to watch the re-match against Bayern’s former stars and they went home very happy after watching their heroes record an emphatic 5-0 victory.Beckham stole the show with a superb individual performance. The former England captain scored United’s fifth goal in the final minute of the game.

However, it was United’s current manager who broke the deadlock in the fifth minute.

A grand total of one each.

The Chilean forward has been an unmitigated disaster for United since joining the club from Arsenal in January 2018 and Solskjaer is reportedly desperate to get rid of him this summer.

If Sanchez stays, he will see his wage cut by 25 per cent - to £375,000 a week - after the club failed to secure qualification for next season’s Champions League.

The 30-year-old issued an apology to United fans via Instagram after the club’s poor season earlier this month but insisted that he had always been “professional in all aspects”, despite certain press reports stating otherwise.

United fans will not shed a tear if he does leave the club this summer. They were so excited when his signing was announced but, for one reason or another, he has failed to deliver on an almost unbelievable scale.

Back to Sunday’s game and United wrapped up the 5-0 win thanks to further goals from Dwight Yorke, Nicky Butt and Louis Saha.

Standing with yet another trophy in his arms after full-time, Ferguson gave the following interview to BT Sport…
