The Ligue 1 title is virtually Paris Saint-Germain’s to lose for the foreseeable future, but that doesn’t mean the most exciting players in the division play exclusively for the capital-based club.

The competition is a hotbed of future world-beaters who often seek to move abroad once they’ve established themselves in France.

The region produces stars in every position on the pitch, and there’s a common trait among the brightest of the bunch - they’re lightning quick.

By now, everyone is familiar with the frankly ridiculous rate at which Kylian Mbappe can cover the ground.

However, as evidenced by our fastest XI of current Ligue 1 stars, he’s not the only speedster in the country.

GK | Anthony Lopes

Lopes is one of the more fleet of foot goalkeepers in FIFA 19 - and the quickest in Ligue 1 - with decent ratings of 63 acceleration and 64 sprint speed.

RB | Bouna Sarr

Occasionally deployed further forward to utilise his speed, Sarr is the fastest Ligue 1 right-back in FIFA 19 with a pace rating of 83.

CB | Presnel Kimpembe

Kimpembe was given ratings of 75 acceleration and 78 sprint speed in FIFA 19, reflecting his capacity to keep up with all but the most rapid of strikers he faces.

CB | Marquinhos

Marquinhos registered the highest top speed of any centre-back at the 2018 World Cup - an impressive 33.3 km/h.

LB | Ferland Mendy

Armed with 90 acceleration and 88 sprint speed, there isn’t a faster Ligue 1 defender on FIFA 19 than Mendy.

RM | Gelson Martins

Martins has a well-deserved pace rating of 94 on FIFA 19, making him the second-quickest Ligue 1 player behind only Mbappe.

CM | Tanguy Ndombele

According to FIFA 19, there isn’t a faster natural centre-midfielder than Ndombele, who boasts 84 acceleration and 76 sprint speed to back up his powerful physique.

CM | Keagan Dolly

Slightly quicker than his partner in the engine room, Dolly is a handy playmaker with an 80 pace rating on FIFA 19.

LM | Ismaila Sarr

Sarr reached a top speed of 32.4 km/h at the 2018 World Cup, which, despite being nothing to sneeze at, is slightly underwhelming given his FIFA 19 stats of 94 sprint speed and 93 acceleration.

ST | Neymar

Neymar is better known for making fools of defenders with pure skill, so his blistering pace - which saw him reach a top speed of 34.83 km/h during the 2016-17 La Liga season - can be underestimated.

ST | Kylian Mbappe

Mbappe simply has to be one of the fastest footballers on the planet; his top recorded speed of 41.19 km/h at the 2018 World Cup is just over 3 km/h slower than Usain Bolt’s world-record pace.

It’s difficult to imagine how an opposition manager would set out to try and contain this ludicrously quick XI.

However, despite oozing with pace in every position on the pitch, the Ligue 1 team is our runner-up in the five fastest European leagues.

Here are our rankings so far:

2. Ligue 1
3. La Liga
4. Bundesliga
5. Serie A
