Chelsea fan spotted punching poster of David Luiz outside Stamford Bridge on live TV

Reading v Chelsea - Pre-Season Friendly

One of the most unexpected deals on transfer deadline day will see Chelsea defender David Luiz complete his £8 million move to Arsenal.

By the time you read this, the deal may have already been officially announced.

Luiz will sign a two-year contract with the Gunners after completing a routine medical.

The Brazil international, who returned to Stamford Bridge in August 2016 following two seasons with Paris Saint-Germain, did not train with Chelsea on Wednesday.

He will sign for Arsenal before Thursday’s 5pm deadline and will be eligible to make his debut against Newcastle United on Sunday.

While the majority of Chelsea fans don’t appear to be particularly concerned by the thought of Luiz’s departure, one supporter hasn’t taken the news well.

Deadline day has officially peaked.

The transfer window does strange things to people, doesn’t it?

Luiz will become Arsenal’s fifth summer signing following the arrivals of Nicolas Pepe, William Saliba, Gabriel Martinelli and Dani Ceballos.
