A few weeks ago it was reported that WWE were in talks with the legendary Trish Stratus for a return to the ring as Charlotte Flair's SummerSlam opponent.

And those rumours rung true when the Canadian was announced for a special SmackDown segment last week with Jerry 'The King Lawler', which would lead to her accepting a challenge from Flair for a match.

That will happen in her home-city of Toronto this Sunday, but they have already come to blows on SmackDown this past week.

After lots of Charlotte trash-talk and telling Trish to 'bow down to the queen', Stratus landed a slap across the face of Flair but she refused to hit back.

She will do her talking in the ring inside the Scotiabank Arena, but whilst she will have many more matches to come, it will be Trish's last.

“I always sort of said, you know, retired - that’s a loose term in wrestling - but I always said if there was something that was [a] challenging, [b] gonna do something for someone else, I would consider it," Stratus told Bubba Ray Dudley on Busted Open Radio.

"And of course, I love wrestling, it’s something that’s always gonna be part of me and part of my life. I watch it, I follow it, even if I don’t do it everyday.

"So when opportunities like this came up, it was like ‘gosh, this has to happen,’ like Charlotte and I in the ring, you couldn’t together a better... I sort of feel like this is a good final match for me, because I don’t really think that you could do anything more than this... it feels like a good ending to me - a real ending.”

SummerSlam will bring an end to a near-20 year career that has seen Stratus win the Women's Championship seven times, a Hardcore Championship and she was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2013.

You'd expect that Trish will give Charlotte 'the rub' this Sunday and put her over for a win, and win or lose she will get an incredible reaction from the crowd in the city of her birth.
