Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Giovani Lo Celso from Real Betis on a season-long loan with an option to buy

Spurs started the day with talk of Paulo Dybala maybe coming in as well but while that fizzled out, Lo Celso will be a part of the squad this season.

Lo Celso only actually joined Betis permanently this summer, having spent last year on loan from Paris Saint-Germain.

It was always likely that he'd move on, however, given his performances in Andalusia.

Lo Celso scored 16 times from midfield in all competitions, with nine in La Liga - finally fulfilling the promise that convinced PSG to sign him in 2016.

The Argentine worked his way into the Argentina team, too, with whom he featured at the Copa America this summer.

Signing a wonderfully talented attacking midfielder will ask questions of Christian Eriksen's future, of course.

The Dane has been linked with a move away this summer, seemingly to Madrid - be that with Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid.

And so Lo Celso leaves them in a strong position; if Eriksen leaves, they have his replacement; if he stays, they've got some fantastic options.

The loan part of the move would appear to cover the uncertainty of Eriksen's future, as Spurs may not want to commit to a large fee this summer without knowing what will happen there.

But that's all talk for later in the summer.

What we do know is that Spurs have signed an exciting player who, at 23 years old, could light up North London for years to come.
