Christian Wade caught the attention of all NFL fans last night after scoring an impressive 65-yard touchdown on his debut for the Buffalo Bills. The former Wasps and England Rugby Union star signed with the Bills in April as part of the NFL's International Player Pathway Programme. It didn't take long for him to make an impact on the team, as he scored a touchdown in his first game, and with his first touch of the ball. The running back's 65-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter helped the Bills beat the Indianapolis Colts 24-16 and win their first preseason game. The Bills sideline went absolutely crazy for the former rugby star after his touchdown.

Wade said after the game: “I don’t even know the score! First win, at home, I’m so happy right now and appreciate all the support so far. Let’s get this season started!”

Looking back on his score, he said, via talkSPORT: “I knew where I was going even before the ball came because they overloaded one side then as soon as I got the ball I was off to the races.

“I was looking up at the screen to see if any of the linebackers or anyone was coming up behind me.”

Bills quarterback Josh Allen heaped the praise on Wade as well, as he said: “Huge congratulations to Christian Wade.

"Watching him score that touchdown was one of the coolest experiences of my football career and I wasn’t even on the field.”

Bills head coach Sean McDermott awarded Wade with the game ball after the game as a reward for his touchdown.

Wade left rugby in October last year in order to pursue a career in the NFL. So far, it's going well for him.

However, there's still a big uphill battle for him to make the Bills' 53-man roster. Most likely, if he keeps on playing well in the team's remaining preseason games, he will make their practice squad.
