Manchester United have had a mixed summer transfer window.

Improving their defence was a must and so Ole Gunnar Solskjaer went out and splashed £130m on Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire.

Both will be guaranteed starters this season and so too should £15m signing Daniel James, who is a superior wide option to Jesse Lingard.

However, following the £75m sale of Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan on transfer deadline day, United have very limited options up front.

United were linked with a number of top-class strikers throughout the summer but were unable to sign any of them, leaving just Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang wanted to stay at Arsenal, Paulo Dybala wanted to stay at Juventus and a deal couldn't be agreed for Mario Mandzukic.

Another potential option up front is Alexis Sanchez, who occasionally played as a No.9 during his time at Arsenal.

But it sounds like the Chilean could be leaving United as well after they offered the Chilean on loan to AS Roma.

Sources at Roma have confirmed the offer and United are apparently prepared to pay most of Sanchez's wages to sweeten the deal.

Sanchez earns a reported £500,000-per-week at United - four times more than Roma's current top earner, Edin Dzeko - which shows how desperate they are to get rid of him.

Whether it's the right decision to ship Sanchez remains to be seen, but Solskjaer might want to consider how few attacking options he'll have if the move goes through.
