Roman Reigns vs Daniel Bryan might not happen at SummerSlam due to feud timing

One of the more interesting storylines in the WWE entering SummerSlam weekend is the developing feud between Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan.

Reigns vs Bryan was penciled in for SummerSlam a few weeks ago, and WWE has been booking Monday Night Raw and SmackDown each week towards that eventual match.

However, we're just days away from WWE's biggest party of the summer and the match is yet to be confirmed for the show. The reason why might be due to feud timing.

Speaking on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer explained why a match between Reigns and Bryan might not take place at SummerSlam.

He said, via Cageside Seats: “I can’t imagine them doing SummerSlam and not having Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns at the show at all. They’re not going to wrestle, but they may do the reveal or something like that on the show.

"Obviously they are going to continue the angle and it may lead to something on the following pay-per-view I guess. That angle is going, I guess they lost their timing on it and now it’s not ready for the pay-per-view.”

It will be odd if neither The Big Dog or Bryan makes an appearance at SummerSlam this Sunday. There's probably a strong chance their appearance plays out as Meltzer mentions above.

Meltzer added that recent last-minute SmackDown rewrites may be the cause of Reigns vs Bryan not being ready for SummerSlam.

If The Big Dog does have a match at SummerSlam, it could be against Buddy Murphy following what happened on SmackDown this week. That's a match which has recently been rumoured for the show as well.

Reigns and Bryan have been booked to face each other on several WWE house shows following SummerSlam, so there's every chance any altercation at SummerSlam will only be the official start of the feud between the two.
