Eden Hazard arrived at Real Madrid earlier this summer as the club's first 'Galactico' signing of quite some time.

But, he didn't exactly make a dream start.

Reports from Spain suggest that he arrived for pre-season '7kg overweight' and he struggled to impress in his first few appearances.

Madrid based media were quick to turn on the Belgian, with Marca writing that he was 'anonymous' in three matches and claimed that he 'isn’t that x-factor the fans need to get behind the team'.

But against RB Salzburg on Wednesday, Hazard proved all the doubters wrong. He scored a spectacular goal, cutting inside from the left before unleashing an effort beyond the goalkeeper.

Madrid went on to win the game and the ex-Chelsea star officially announced himself as a Galactico - and it seems his status has finally been recognised with a new squad number.

Throughout pre-season, the forward has been wearing number 50, but judging by his profile on Madrid's official website, Hazard has now been given the famous number 7 shirt.

Check out some images below that appear to confirm the news.

There's no-one in the Madrid squad that's more deserving of the famous shirt that Hazard. He's taken it off Mariano Diaz, but the Dominican Republic forward can have very few complaints really.

With his new number, Hazard follows in the footsteps of some very famous names, including Raul, Juanito, Amancio Amaro and of course, Cristiano Ronaldo.

No pressure then, Eden.

Madrid have one more friendly to play against Roma before they kick off the 2019/20 La Liga campaign away to Celta Vigo.

Hazard will be hoping to help Los Blancos secure some silverware this season and now that he's been given the famous number 7 shirt, he could well be the man that teammates turn to when they need some inspiration.
