Our excitement for the Premier League season has officially hit uncontrollable levels.

At the time of writing, the 2019-20 campaign is just hours away from kicking off with Liverpool and Norwich City getting a new year underway at Anfield.

It's a thrilling return for England's flagship division with Manchester United locking horns with Chelsea, Arsenal flaunting their new signings at Newcastle United and many more stellar clashes.

As a result, supporters around the country are fretting over their Fantasy Football teams, triple-checking their accumulators and even trying their hand at a full-table prediction.

It has been become somewhat vogue in recent years for fans and pundits alike to put their powers of analysis to the test by predicting the Premier League table 10 months in advance.

Predicting the 2019/20 season

But come on, let's face it, committing to a final list of 20 and inevitably laughing at yourself come May is just too fun not to get involved with. Just ask Jamie Carragher.

The Liverpool legend is one of the most engaging pundits on television and has transferred the footballing brain that made him a success on the pitch into the studio.

Bearing that in mind, Carragher has decided to make his forecast for the new season and delivered a series of predictions as part of his column with the Telegraph.

Jamie Carragher names his predictions

So, is he predicting Liverpool to finally win the Premier League? I'm afraid, like many of his colleagues, the former defender is backing Manchester City for a three consecutive triumph.

With Pep Guardiola's men making shrewd improvements with the signings of Rodri and Joao Cancelo, they are being favoured to a Liverpool team that have kept their wallet tightly shut.

However, that wasn't the only debate that Carragher gave his opinion on and you can check out his full list of predictions down below:

Premier League champions: Manchester City

Premier League top four: Manchester City, Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal

FA Cup winners: Liverpool

Carabao Cup winners: Tottenham

Champions League winners: Manchester City

Very interesting to say the least and particularly in regards to the cup winners.

It seems half the country is tipping City, Liverpool and Tottenham to finish in the top three, while Carragher has plumped for Arsenal to overcome Manchester United and Chelsea in fourth.

He also expects Liverpool to pay more attention to the English cups this season, believing that Jurgen Klopp will bag his first domestic trophy at the club with the FA Cup.

Carragher also expects Mauricio Pochettino to end his silverware drought with Tottenham and backs Guardiola to win his first Champions League title in what will be over eight years.

We trust Carragher to come closer to a correct prediction than most of us, but no doubt we'll be able to poke fun at one of his predictions by the time next summer arrives.
