Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz Jr's highly-anticipated rematch will take place in Saudi Arabia on December 7, it's been confirmed.

Madison Square Garden (New York) and the Principality Stadium (Cardiff) were touted as potential venues, but a reported $100m bid from the Middle East secured the fight.

Joshua lost the IBF, WBA and WBO belts in an unexpected defeat to Ruiz on June 1 and will be looking to win them back.

The championship bout will be aired on DAZN in the USA and Sky Sports in the UK.

In a recent interview with Sky Sports, Joshua confidently said he will "whoop" Ruiz in a rematch regardless of where it's held.

"I feel strong enough and I feel I can correct my wrongs," he said.

"I need to be around as many boxing people as possible because right now I need to soak in the experience and knowledge - and get that passion back.

"I'd fight in Tijuana and Ruiz's uncle could be the referee and I would still whoop him. It [doesn't] matter to me where it is.

"But then there's the other aspect of the British fans that have been riding with me from day one want to see me get them belts back."

Mike Tyson, however, believes there could be a repeat performance from Ruiz.

"[Andy] came the other day, we talked. His energy is wonderful, he is a beautiful person," Tyson told ESPN. "If he did it once, he can do it again."
