Arsenal completed the signing of Kieran Tierney on Deadline Day after chasing him for most of the summer.

The Scottish left-back was first reported to be in Unai Emery’s radar at the conclusion of last season when it was clear that the Gunners needed a new defender.

Negotiations dragged on for months though and it was only at 4:48pm on Thursday that Arsenal finally announced the transfer.

Tierney joins from Celtic in a deal worth around £25 million and he will hope to become a key part of his new side's backline for years to come.

But the 22-year-old may have to wait a while for his debut, as he's reportedly carrying an injury.

Tierney himself has said that it 'hopefully won't be too long' until fans see him in action, but the suggestion is that he won't start training for another four to six weeks.

The youngster is currently recovering from a double hernia operation.

Despite not being fully fit, Tierney still managed to smash his Arsenal medical. In fact, he set a new club record for the vertical jump.

The player performers that exercise with hands-on-hips and the aim is to see how high they can bounce without any prior momentum.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang held the record at Arsenal, jumping 54cm. But on Thursday, Tierney came in and on his third attempt, reached 55cm.

Check out the video below, with his attempts starting at the 3:24 mark.

Very impressive indeed. For context, the average male can jump around only 50cm, while Cristiano Ronaldo, who is renowned as one of the greatest sportsmen of his era, achieved just 44cm in 2013.

Perhaps we can expect to see Tierney winning a fair few headers for the Gunners this season - that is when he's fully recovered from injury, of course.
