MMA can produce some of the most brutal injuries you'll ever see in sports, and Mike Perry found that out the hard way during UFC Uruguay's co-main event last night.Platinum Perry suffered a split decision loss (28-29, 29-28, 29-28) to Vicente Luque at the UFC Uruguay event, but he also walked away from the bout with a horrific broken nose. The welterweight received treatment on his nose after the fight, but according to ESPN’s Heidi Androl, he was eventually taken to a hospital for a CT scan after having trouble breathing. Many UFC fighters and fans who watched the event have called Perry's nose break one of the worst nose breaks they have ever seen.As you can see from the photo UFC President Dana White tweeted below, it just might be.

UFC fighter Dustin Poirier said about the nose break on Twitter: "One of the worst broken noses I've ever seen! viva la violence."

Olympian Jordan Burroughs commented: "Every time I’m tempted to get in the octagon I see something like this, and I’m like, “Nah, I’m good.”

Perry’s camp and some observers disagreed with the result of the fight, but right now they'll be more concerned with the health of Platinum.

Some good news did come out of UFC Uruguay for Perry however, as he and Luque received a $50,000 “Fight of the Night” bonus for their performance at the event.

Perry started his UFC career 4-1, but following this split decision, he's gone 2-4 in his last six fights inside the Octagon.

However, despite his recent loss, one potential future opponent for Platinum could be against former UFC Welterweight Champion Robbie Lawler as they both look to climb back up the welterweight division.

By the looks of his nose though, it might be a couple of months at least until we see him fighting again.

Elsewhere at UFC Uruguay, in the main event, Valentina Shevchenko defeated Liz Carmouche to retain her UFC Women's Flyweight Championship. This was her second successful title defense.
