How a 'Man City B' side would look after Jose Mourinho says they'd challenge for the title

West Ham United v Manchester City - Premier League

It didn’t take long for Jose Mourinho to cause a stir as he appeared on Sky Sports as a pundit ahead of Newcastle vs Arsenal and Manchester United vs Chelsea.

When asked who could win the Premier League title this season, Mourinho reeled off four sides - but it wasn’t quite the answer many were expecting.

“Who can win the title? Man City, Tottenham, Liverpool and Man City B team,” he replied.

“When I looked at the [City] bench yesterday, the players not involved I think even the B team could fight for the title.”

So Mourinho reckons that City’s second XI are better than Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal?

It certainly caused a stir.

But is he right?

Here’s what we came up with:

It’s good but you can’t say that XI is better than Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal, surely!?

Mourinho went on to talk further about the chances of both of his former sides - Chelsea and Man Utd.

“I don’t believe they’re going to resist in the title race,” Mourinho added.

“I want to say that the obvious thing, we would love United and Chelsea at that level.

In football, sometimes unpredictable things can happen, but I think we all agree, a team last season that won everything in England last season and the European champions.”
