Manchester United got their Premier League campaign off to a rollicking good start after thumping Chelsea 4 -0 at Old Trafford.Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s new-look team ran riot in the second half, smashing three past Kepa Arrizabalaga after Marcus Rashford had opened the scoring in the first half.Rashford ended with a brace, while Anthony Martial and Daniel James rounded out the scoring on the day.It was a dream debut for James, who joined the fray in the second half and slotted seamlessly into Premier League football. On top of that, world-record defender Harry Maguire didn’t put a foot wrong at the back either and was eventually named Man-of-the-Match.

Unsurprisingly, Twitter was awash with ecstatic United fans making the most of a thoroughly memorable afternoon.

They weren’t the only ones though, as Match of the Day and BT Sport pundit Gary Lineker also had his say following the unexpected drubbing.

Much has been made of Jose Mourinho’s move into punditry this week and the Portuguese stalwart was back at Old Trafford on Sunday working for Sky Sports.

With that in mind, Lineker absolutely nailed his tweet.

Spot on, Gary.

On the other hand, it was a chastening day for Chelsea manager Frank Lampard who will be desperate to forget his Premier League managerial debut in a hurry.

The Blues were not without their chances though, striking the woodwork on three occasions but United were just far more clinical in the end.

The London side will have to dust themselves off quickly as they prepare to face European champions Liverpool in the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday night.

You can be sure Lineker will be watching.
