Inter Miami are getting set to compete in Major League Soccer next season.

Their debut is an exciting time for owner David Beckham, who has been very involved in the creation of the club.

He's helped with designing the team's badge and strip, as well as picking a site to build the new stadium.

His next big task is building a squad of players to compete in 2020.

So far, Inter Miami have signed three young players - defender Christian Makoun, midfielder Matias Pellegrini and forward Julian Carranza. The trio are all 19-years-old.

It's a good start bringing in young talent for the future - but according to reports, Beckham is eyeing up a 'marquee signing' ahead of next season - Paris Saint Germain striker Edinson Cavani.

The 32-year-old is in the final year of his contract with the French champions and Uruguayan journalist Alvaro Izquierdo believes he will sign a deal with Inter Miami next June.

What a huge signing that would be for Beckham and his franchise.

Cavani is one of the greatest number 9's of his generation and will leave PSG as their all-time top scorer, having netted 194 goals and counting.

Miami, who are set to play their first competitive fixtures next March, are also on the lookout for a head coach.

Once again, Beckham is thought to be heavily involved in the selection and his co-owner has already publically stated they want to appoint someone who's worked at 'the highest level'.

"We are trying to get someone who can also commit here for a period of time and leave his fingerprints on our team," Jorge Mas told BBC Sport.

"It's someone you're going to know who has coached before at the highest level and who has played at the highest level."

Things are starting to take shape at Inter Miami and next season should be very exciting - especially if they can tempt Cavani and a top coach to the MLS.
